Social Science Methods for Interdisciplinary Legal Studies

The Social Science Methods for Interdisciplinary Legal Studies (Methods Course) is based on a collaboration between the Faculty of Law at University of Copenhagen (UCPH), European University Institute, Florence (EUI), and Geneva Graduate Institute (IHEID). The Methods Course is targeted towards legal scholars in the early stages of their PhD projects. To limit the administrative burden, environmental impact and allow access to a diverse set of participants, the Methods Course will follow a hybrid model, where participants at the hosting institution will participate in-person, while participants from the other institutions will join sessions online.

Goal

To equip law researchers with the tools and methods that are particularly suited for the interdisciplinary study or law and institutions.

Sessions

Beyond an introductory (mandatory) and closing session (optional), the sessions will be structured around specific methods relevant to legal studies. The sessions will run in the fall semester and rotate between the hosting institutions. It will comprise of three modules, to give flexibility for students with different needs.

The sessions will take place on Mondays starting September 25th ending December 11th with a break on 23rd October.
