This course discusses the role of government interventions in addressing environmental pollution and climate change and provides an introduction to the economics of environmental policy. The course will build a comprehensive framework for evaluating environmental policy instruments, such as carbon taxes, environmental standards, and cap-and-trade schemes. There is no prior knowledge of economics required and the course will seek to convey some of the basic concepts of environmental economics and initiate in-class discussions through real-world examples.
